MAPDA and Taaffee Partner to Provide 30 Free Mental Health Sessions for Arabs in Malaysia

The Malaysia Arab Professional Dialogue Association (MAPDA) is partnering with Taaffee (تعافي), an Arabic-language mental health support platform, to provide 30 free mental health support sessions for people in need within the Arab community in Malaysia.

The initiative aims to make professional support more accessible to individuals whose financial circumstances may prevent them from seeking help. It reflects a shared commitment to supporting people’s emotional well-being alongside their practical and social needs.

Making Support More Accessible

Living away from home can bring opportunities as well as challenges. Members of the Arab community in Malaysia may face financial pressures, family responsibilities, academic demands, or difficulties adjusting to life in a different country.

For someone considering professional support, the cost of a session can be an additional concern. Through this collaboration, MAPDA and Taaffee aim to reduce that barrier by making a limited number of sessions available free of charge.

The initiative provides 30 sessions in total. Its purpose is to create an accessible opportunity to seek support, with individual needs guiding the appropriate next steps.

Support in a Familiar Language

Discussing personal concerns can be easier when people can express themselves in their own language. Taaffee offers access to Arabic-speaking mental health professionals through online sessions.

This format allows participants to seek support remotely, while communicating in a language familiar to them. It also provides an opportunity to discuss personal and family concerns within a relevant cultural context.

Bringing Community Care and Mental Health Support Together

MAPDA’s community work includes educational and humanitarian assistance. This partnership extends that commitment by recognizing mental health support as another area in which people may need help.

The collaboration brings together MAPDA’s community connections and Taaffee’s online services, creating a practical pathway between identifying a need and accessing support.

The Community Impact We Hope to Achieve

Through this initiative, MAPDA and Taaffee hope to:

  • Reduce financial barriers to seeking mental health support.

  • Encourage more open and respectful conversations about emotional well-being.

  • Help people feel more comfortable asking for assistance.

  • Build a foundation for further cooperation in response to community needs.

These are the initiative’s intended contributions. Its impact will depend on participants’ needs, their experiences, and the support available beyond the initial sessions.

A Shared Commitment to Care

Providing 30 free sessions is a focused contribution to a wider community effort. By working together, MAPDA and Taaffee aim to offer a meaningful opportunity for people who might otherwise postpone seeking support.
